I really enjoyed watching this video. It made me wonder why the government doesn't force everyone to get vaccinated though. It's not only the health of that person that doesn't get vaccinated, but those around them as well. The person who doesn't get vaccinated is putting everyone else at risk. I understand that some people may worry about side affects, but the benefits of vaccinations outweigh the possible side affects.
Also, I don't understand why we need shots when are told we need them, but that is why I trust doctors and science. If things in the past say that X,Y, and Z work at age 3, then I will trust science. I don't believe parents should be able to change that or exempt themselves just for "religious or personal reasons". Everyone should be required to be vaccinated. Especially in a school or group setting. The government shouldn't allow any un-vaccinated kids into schools, for if they do, the well-being of other students will be at risks.
Children are getting sick and dying from preventable diseases. Science is improving and finding cures, parents must realize that doctors and scientists should be trusted because they are doing their best to save children's lives. Today only about 1% don't vaccinate their children at all. A lot of people lack a quality understanding on vaccinations and the effects it may have to get the vaccine or not. Stories of failure lead to mistrust and lower rates of vaccination. Governments need to change and adapt vaccines as new scientific knowledge is gathered. Parents must realize the benefits are greater than the risk. "The higher the overall vaccination rate, the more protection for everyone."
Madison, i agree with you. The problem is people don't understand the information. We as a society like to think that since it isn't a problem for us that we don't need to worry about it. The reason why it is not a problem for us is because we have been able to control it through techniques such as vaccination. If more and more people continue to refuse vaccination, we are opening ourselves for a possible serious problem that could be easily avoided. We are unfortunately beginning to rely to heavily on herd immunity. This is we trust that our peers re vaccinated so that they cannot get an infection so we don't have to worry about getting the vaccine because they aren't able to have it and pass it on.
Whooping cough is what the video starts out with and I have seen so many TV commercials about this disease. This bacteria seems to attack the young with low immune systems. They are so tiny and their systems cannot support the effects of this disease. Same thing with the measles, it seems way too common with young children which is where vaccines came from. Many people are afraid of vaccines because they don’t know the full affect from it and the parents of children are scared to have their child vaccinated. Also another reason parents decide not to get their children vaccinated is that they have a good immune system but they have to realize these diseases could have been growing with us for many years and even if we have a good immune system we could still be attacked. I agree with this I think it is important to receive the yearly vaccines because it is definitely better safe than sorry. The one thing I do not agree with is when people are allergic to the vaccines or the side effects are triggered by the vaccine. I think our focus now should be on making sure we can vaccinate everyone without the bad side effects. I also think that the study of autism is very interesting and I think that it is wonderful that the vaccines have responded with no correlation to autism. It would be fantastic to find a vaccine to help with or prevent cancer. Maybe sometime in the future we will see this happen but as of right now we play the waiting game.
We are in a day and age where there are many pathogens that haven't had an effect in our life due to advances in healthcare. We are at the point where it has been so long that you have even heard about them that you don't think to be vaccinated or have your kids vaccinated. People seem to think that it can cause greater harm to have the vaccine and are willing to take their chances by not getting the vaccination. The more and more people that decide not get vaccinated the higher the chances of certain diseases popping up and having devastated consequences that could possible be easily avoided.
The process need to take less time. It takes way to long as it it now and causes life's to be lost and people to suffer
